I completed my PDS (Professional Development School) requirements for my university and now I'm preparing for student-teaching.
What is PDS?
PDS is a program for Education majors and they hold class at schools in the district. Not only are the students going over the content of what makes a good teacher and how to teach Best Practice, but they take what they learn and go into classrooms, implementing techniques & strategies learned while following the curriculum. Really, the students were extra pairs of hands that are not only helping out the classroom teacher, but also learning the ropes of working a classroom. Less observation and more submergence. I suppose if one had to label this in common terms, one could call this "prestudent-teaching". I hope that all colleges/universities will move toward this design.
Why am I writing this blog? Well, this is my first one and I apologize if I do not know the etiquette of blog writing, but even though I had PDS experience, I'm still quite nervous/anxious to begin tomorrow. My student-teaching will be divided up into two sets of eight weeks: the first set is for my special education endorsement and the second is for my general elementary education major. I'm looking for people to give me suggestions on education experience. Anything that I may need to know. Also, I wouldn't mind constructive criticism on how to improve my blogging techniques. I'm also open to answering any questions.
